A new report says on Monday, overall mobile handset market in India increased by 7 percent in 2021. Samsung take 17 percent shear and captured the top position in the handset market. According to Counterpoint Research, in the feature phone segment the shipments reached 86 million units to show flat growth in 2021.
Itel with 24 percent shear, led the feature phone market followed by Lava, Samsung and Jio. Itel has been forefront in the feature phone market for last two years. In 2021, Samsung shipments was in second place with 8 percent decline in the smartphone segment. Supply chain disruptions, the absence of the new Note series, reduced focus on the entry-level segment, and fewer launches in the mid-segment compared to the previous year led to an overall decline.
In Q4 2021, Samsung was the top brand in 5G smartphone shipments. The campaign to provide maximum bandwidth on 5G smartphones has facilitated this growth. With 28 percent share Samsung led the Rs 20000 – Rs 45000 segment.
In 2021 Samsung’s foldable device shipments increase 388 percent in India. Samsung has shipped four times more foldable devices in the world more than last year. According to analysts expected exceeding the three-fold market growth. The success of the Galaxy Z series is a example of the consumer enthusiasm for Samsung foldable, according to the company.
